Agility Success at Crufts 2014 for Amy and Fudge
Our very own Amy Lawson, a competition veteran with over 17 years’ experience, took part in Crufts 2014 at the start of March, having lots of fun and some success along the way!
Both she and her lovely Shetland sheepdog dog Fudge had a wonderful time, earning a well-deserved 2nd place in the singles jumping on the Friday, narrowly missing a chance at an even higher placing with an unfortunate grading E on the second obstacle. As usual, Fudge took everything in her stride, rising to the occasion beautifully.
You can see Amy and Fudge in action at Crufts in the singles competition in the videos below. If you want to fast forward to their round, go to around 30 minutes and 25 seconds in the first video (Agility) and 35 minutes and 25 seconds in the next (Jumping).
Fudge was deceptively fast in her Agility heat, but you might want to cover your eyes near the end of the first video, where she takes a bit of a wrong turn!
Amy and Fudge, who is seven years old now, had much better luck in the Jumping round, with Fudge flying round clear in 31.18 seconds. That took her into first place for a while, but she was narrowly beaten by 0.04 of a second by seven-year-old Papillon, Masha (full name Livewire it's All Gravy), who came all the way from the U.S.A.
On Saturday, day three at Crufts, Amy competed as a team member with Corton’s Chaos Theory in Crufts’ team event. Again, Fudge performed brilliantly, completing a fabulous clear round, but at the end of the day, although the team got to the semis, it wasn’t quite enough to carry the team through to the finals.
Here’s more video action – the team begins their round at approximately 24minutes and 15 seconds, with Amy and Fudge having their moment of glory at around 26 minutes and 30 seconds.
Amy and Fudge have demonstrated again what a cracking team they are. If you'd like more information about taking part in dog agility training yourself, there are a number of ways to get in touch with Amy at 3 Paws Agility Training.
All credit to the whole team for an amazing effort. Corton’s Chaos Theory’s team members are pictured here, from left to right: Lee Harfield and Pip the poodle, Natalie Webb and Cass, her Sheltie, Amy and Fudge and Rosie Cavill with Spice, her cocker spaniel.
